Exeter and District Chess League
Update (8 October 2011)
New league format
For the upcoming 2011-12 season, the Exeter & District Chess League will be adopting a new two-division format, with the two sections being:
* Premiership (total grade over 4 boards may not exceed 640)
* Championship (total grade over 4 boards may not exceed 460)
The deadline for receipt of entries was 3 October 2011. Over the coming days the league secretary will be chasing up various bits of missing information and unpaid entry fees, and compiling an information pack which will be sent out to captains when complete. As noted previously: entry is conditional on payment of this season's entry fee (£12) plus all outstanding fees owed to the league, as summarised in the email sent out following the recent E&D AGM (email timestamp: 20 September 2011 01:09).
Constitution of divisions - current lineups (8 October 2011)
The following lists provide unofficial lineups for the two divisions. These lists are based on current information, and should not be regarded as being definitive - they may still change slightly before being finalised.
Premiership: Exeter (2 teams), Exmouth (1 team), Met Office (1 team), Seaton (0 teams), Sidmouth (0 teams), Tiverton (1 team). Forecast: 5 teams overall.
Championship: Exeter (2 teams), Exmouth (0 teams), Met Office (0 teams), Seaton (1 team), Sidmouth (2 teams), Tiverton (1 team). Forecast: 6 teams overall.
Minor rule modifications
A list of minor modifications to the rules was sent out via email following the recent E&D AGM (mentioned above). The two crucial changes to be aware of may be summarised as follows: (1) An individual may play in both divisions, but cannot play for more than one team in the same division; (2) If a club enters more than one team in a division, those teams must play each other before playing any of their other matches.
